Architecture may be seen as a barrier, but it is also a medium for connecting with nature and the universe. At the same time, forms, placements of architectural elements, and the intensity of everything that surrounds us shape how our bodies sense and experience space. This, in turn, influences our actions, responses, and subconscious perceptions. The question is: how deeply are we willing to be touched and awakened?

This installation deals with ideas of cross-modal perception and how the senses work together to define how we unconsciously perceive our environment. Each sense informs the other, leading to heightened or softened perception of environmental phenomena; for example, the perception of sound can be modulated by the intensity and saturation of colour.

Through traditional Indonesian shadow puppetry (Wayang Kulit), poetry, and musical performance, Sasawa opens up space for voices that have been silenced for decades and bodies that have been confined for even longer. The performance is a gesture of hope, attending to long-overlooked wounds and affirming shared, suppressed memories to rediscover and celebrate varied cultural identities, belief systems, and belonging.

When a body reveals its truth, with its own entity and dynamics, does it resonate with others' records, informing the formation of collective voices? How do these voices feed back into the space they inhabit?
